Virtual Visits & Opportunities

Parents are being asked to wear many different hats right now, and at Fairfield, we are doing our best to accommodate our new families while adjusting to the current global health situation. As a result, we are proud to offer a variety of evolving virtual opportunities to our admitted students and families.

Specifically designed for admitted parents, our virtual "Conversations with the Vice President for Enrollment" provide a great opportunity for admitted parents to ask questions and learn about the challenges and successes that other Fairfield parents are experiencing.Your input and participation in these events allow us to best serve both your needs and your student’s needs.

Due to the overwhelming popularity of these virtual conversations, we have added additional sessions throughout the year. After you register at the link below, you will receive a Zoom web conference email a few hours prior to the session. Please note that all sessions will be held during Eastern Standard Time.

Why Fairfield: Fairfield’s size, location, and extremely loyal alumni base stood out to us initially. Having met alumni from across the country, there is always an overwhelming love for the University and their experience at Fairfield. After visiting, we were very impressed with the campus and the school’s commitment to supporting academic, athletic, and student experiences. The new facilities, including the new Dolan School of Business, are state-of-the-art and more than impressive. The beautiful campus and its close access to downtown Fairfield and the beach made the environment a perfect setting for the college experience.

Advice for First-Time Parents of College Students: Be involved enough (but not too much) to guide their selection of a school, but let the student find and enjoy their independence.

My Experience as a Member of Fairfield’s Parents Community: We have really enjoyed the sense of community from the administration and students at Fairfield. We love attending Alumni Family Weekend and visiting and supporting Athletics. We also had the honor of hosting a newly enrolled student meet-and-greet, and it was so much fun to see how enthusiastic the new students and their families were about attending Fairfield.

Why Fairfield: Fairfield’s close-knit Jesuit community, excellent teaching, great leadership, strong alumni network, and overall dedication to student growth and development are many of the aspects that are important to me as a parent. I was particularly impressed by Fairfield’s leadership during the coronavirus pandemic. They were quick to respond, made data-driven decisions, kept students safe, and developed a program to ensure safety measures were maintained. This is unchartered territory for all, and the way Fairfield managed the pandemic speaks volumes.

Advice for First-Time Parents of College Students: Based on the status of our current environment, everything is fluid and subject to change for both students and families alike. And with so much uncertainty, be certain Fairfield puts your students best interests first.

My Experience as a Member of Fairfield’s Parents Community: Being located 3,000 miles from campus, I have been incredibly impressed with the efforts Fairfield has taken to ensure we are included in local events and activities. We have had the wonderful opportunity to meet with Fairfield faculty both on campus and in California.

Why Fairfield: The emphasis on cura personalis is the aspect of Fairfield University that appealed most to us as parents. In addition to providing our daughter with an outstanding academic education, the opportunity she has at Fairfield to develop her character and worldview in order to become not just employable, but more importantly, a compassionate contributor to the greater good is unique to this institution. Fairfield doesn’t just promote this ideal, it lives and breathes it in all aspects of the college community so students have a worthy model to emulate.

Advice for First-Time Parents of College Students: Encourage your child to look at a variety of different kinds of colleges and visit the campuses together. Sometimes the image you have of a type of college and/or pre-conceived notions held about a particular institution are not at all the reality.

My Experience as a Member of Fairfield’s Parents Community: Our experience as part of the University’s community has been completely positive. We have felt welcomed, included, and valued members of the Fairfield family since our daughter received her acceptance letter. The communication Fairfield provides parents is outstanding! We are always well informed and kept up-to-date, which has been particularly challenging during the Covid-19 crisis. Nonetheless, Fairfield has exceeded our expectations in this regard.
