Off Campus

Fairfield University occupies a unique, 200-acre campus in southwestern Connecticut with rolling hills, mature landscapes, and coastal views of Long Island Sound. The University runs a free shuttle bus into downtown Fairfield (pop. 55,000), just a mile from campus, with its popular shops and restaurants, and the train station that provides easy access to New Haven, Stamford, and New York City.

Our suburban setting provides a vibrant environment for living and learning, students are encouraged to step out, step up and access the many career and community opportunities in the thriving urban area.

Approximately 140 Fortune 500 firms are headquartered within an hour of campus. Internships, community service and leadership projects all provide invaluable extensions of classroom learning.

More than 80 percent of Fairfield University undergraduates live on campus, meaning that when you sign up for a meal plan, chances are you'll run into a few of your friends at every meal. You can choose from a variety of dining options, including deli, grill, and vegetarian options. We even encourage students to share their favorite recipes from home, so we can provide a wider and more popular selection of menu items.

We are dedicated to fostering a sense of community, and this begins with where you live. The deepest learning and strongest bonds form when you're in an environment that's not just comfortable, but intellectually and creatively stimulating. Some students find they're most at home in our more traditional residence halls, townhouses, or apartment complexes. Others prefer our living and learning, or residential college communities - an opportunity to connect with students who have similar interests, while settling into life on campus.

Campus Ministry

Fairfield University is a Jesuit, Catholic institution, meaning that faith is a big part of who we are. But it's more than just attending services. It drives us to foster a community of curious, socially responsible seekers, a community that includes people of all religious backgrounds and affiliations. We believe that if we work together, we can affect real change in the world, engaging with real issues both in and out of the classroom.
