Liturgical Ministries

Students from all four classes have the opportunity to serve as Acolytes, Ushers, Eucharistic Ministers (EMs), Lectors, and Musicians at Sunday Masses, on Holy Days, and at all special Masses throughout the school year.

Eucharistic Ministers and Lectors

In the fall, students apply and interview to become Eucharistic Ministers and Lectors. Both groups take part in a six-week training program tailored to the needs of their specific ministry. The training includes theological overviews of ministry and the Eucharist, as well as in-depth explanations of the parts of the Mass and their specific liturgical roles. New ministers are assigned mentors to guide them through their training. The process culminates with a combined overnight retreat off campus and Commissioning during Sunday Mass.

In addition to participating in liturgies, both ministries meet every two weeks during the academic year. The goal of these meetings is ongoing spiritual formation and the student ministers' development as future lay leaders of the Church. These meetings enrich their spiritual lives with discussions and speakers in the area of faith, justice and morality, introduce them to different kinds of prayer, build community, and offer opportunities to participate in service projects.
