CNN Anchor Kaitlan Collins at the Quick, Nov. 12

Collins will share behind-the-scenes insights in a lecture titled “This Just In – The Media’s Role in Shaping America’s Path Forward.”

Kaitlan Collins, one of CNN’s youngest-ever White House correspondents, will speak at Fairfield University’s Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 3 p.m.

The conversation, titled “This Just In – The Media’s Role in Shaping America’s Path Forward,” is part of the Quick Center’s Open VISIONS Forum series, designed to build community engagement and to encourage academic integration of timely topics brought to campus by distinguished lecturers and leaders.

Collins is currently the anchor of The Source with Kaitlan Collins every weeknight on CNN. She was previously the co-anchor and chief correspondent of CNN This Morning, and before that served as CNN’s chief White House correspondent, based in Washington, D.C.

Since joining the in 2017, Collins has broken several stories in her coverage of both the Biden and Trump administrations, including major staff departures and consequential policy decisions.

Known for her meteoric rise to her current position, Collins has been described by The Washington Post as a “broadcast journalism prodigy.” She will share her insights on the role of media in today’s society as well as her experiences as a White House correspondent, presidential town hall moderator, and news anchor. 

Collins will be joined onstage by Karla Barguiarena, assistant professor of communication in Fairfield University’s College of Arts & Sciences.

Since 2018, Collins has been included in Mediaite's annual list of the “Most Influential People in News Media.” She was also named to Crain's NewsPro's “12 to Watch in TV News” in January of 2019, as well as one of Forbes’ "30 under 30: Media" in the same year. 

A graduate of the University of Alabama, Collins joined CNN from The Daily Caller, where she served as the White House correspondent, covering the first few months of the Trump administration and the 2016 election.
