Field hockey and men’s soccer prepare for postseason play.

Two Fairfield University Athletics programs will vie for a conference crown beginning this weekend, as field hockey battles for the NEC Title while men’s soccer plays for the 2022 MAAC Championship.

Fairfield field hockey is on Staten Island this weekend for the four-team Northeast Conference Championship. The third-seeded Stags will play the second-seeded tournament host, Wagner, on Friday at 2 p.m. for a berth in Sunday’s championship round. The opposite side of the bracket features top-seeded Rider and fourth-seeded Saint Francis.

Head Coach Jackie Kane’s Stags are led by 2022 NEC Player of the Year Nora Amme as well as a quartet of All-NEC Second Team honorees.

Men’s soccer is beginning its postseason this Sunday, Nov. 6. The Stags will visit Manhattan for a 4 p.m. quarterfinal match. The semifinal round is set for Thursday, Nov. 10 and the MAAC Championship will be decided on Sunday, Nov. 13.

Women’s soccer – the second seed and co-champions of the MAAC regular season – also entered postseason play this weekend but was downed by third-seeded Niagara, 3-1, on Thursday evening on Lessing Field to end their 2022 campaign.

The Stags collected two major awards from the MAAC as Maddie Mills was named MAAC Defensive Player of the Year and Maddie Theriault was selected as MAAC Rookie of the Year. The duo highlighted a total of eight All-MAAC honorees.
