The Fairfield Awards Dinner Makes Student Scholarships Possible, April 20

Student Scholarship Recipient and Awards Dinner Student Speaker Kassandra Almanzar '23

The Alumni Multicultural Scholarship Fund at Fairfield University was established in 1988 and is primarily funded through donations to the annual Fairfield Awards Dinner.

The Fairfield Awards Dinner — this year on Wednesday, April 20 at Cipriani 42nd Street at New York City — honors the accomplishments of alumni, faculty, staff, and parents for their professional achievements and volunteer service, as well as serves to raise financial support that helps deserving students realize their full potential through a Fairfield education.

The Alumni Multicultural Scholarship Fund provides an important source of support for students from diverse backgrounds. The event has raised nearly $20 million dollars for student scholarships since the dinner’s inception. It is the largest of nearly 50 endowment scholarship funds at Fairfield that currently support the academic efforts of underserved populations and minority students. This year, the goal is to raise more than $1 million for student scholarships at Fairfield.

Scholarship Recipient and 2022 Awards Dinner Student Speaker:

Kassandra Almanzar ’23
Major: Nursing
Minor: Public Health
Hometown: Lawrence, Mass

"As the first in my family to pursue nursing, I did not know what to expect. Coming to Fairfield, I knew that I had to take advantage of every opportunity presented because the costs associated with going to college weighed heavily on my family and me. Fairfield gave me the opportunity to pursue my dreams. Being a recipient of this Alumni Multicultural Scholarship Fund provided access to make those dreams come true, and being accepted into the Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies is making the future I envisioned become a reality. The nursing program at Fairfield has helped strengthen my character, and has taught me many lessons related to our Jesuit values such as cura personalis—caring for the whole person.”
