Calling all creative families: register today to be a part of the Fairfield University Art Museum's kid-friendly program, Abstract Art: Painting with Dots. Kits with art supplies and detailed instructions will be available for pick up, and video tutorials will help you follow along!
The FUAM's Nov. 14 virtual Family Day is inspired by the "Andrew Forge: The Limits of Sight" exhibition on view in the Bellarmine Hall Galleries. Kits with art supplies and detailed instructions will be available for registered participants to pick up at Fairfield University on the Thursday & Friday prior to the program.
"Since we're closed to the public, we invite everyone to "visit" the exhibition using the brand-new 3D virtual tour on our website, powered by Matterport!" said Carey Mack Weber, the Frank and Clara Meditz Executive Director of the Museum. There, you'll notice that Forge’s paintings are made up of hundreds and thousands of small dabs of paint that create mesmerizing color harmonies along the surface — a technique the artist called 'drumming.'"
The projects for this Family Day event will explore the possibilities of using shapes and colors to create abstract art that doesn't necessarily have a "subject." Registered families will be provided with supplies and a link to videos on the FUAM YouTube page, explaining how each project relates to the Forge exhibition. Instructions for supplies pickup will be sent in an email to all those registered a week prior to the event.
Tag the FUAM on social media at @FairfieldUAM with your completed projects, to be entered into a monthly raffle for a $25 gift card to Michaels!
Register on Eventbrite for the number of participating children. This event is free for Members (register for free membership here!). Non-Member registrants are kindly asked to consider paying a suggested fee of $5 in support of the museum's educational programs. In furtherance of its commitment to equity, access, diversity, and inclusion, the Museum would like to emphasize that this fee is entirely discretionary.
