This holiday season, there is an abundance of events to spread cheer to all.
Carols are playing on radio stations. Lights and holiday décor adorn homes and town centers. Stores are stocked for holiday shoppers. And in Fairfield, an abundance of holiday events are slated to launch the season and spread cheer to all:
Sunday, Dec. 1: Santa Visits the Sherman Green – Lucas the Stag will join Santa Claus as he makes an early visit downtown on the Sherman Green. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., children can visit with Santa and Lucas while also enjoying horse and wagon rides, a petting zoo, face painting, holiday music, and seasonal treats.
Tuesday, Dec. 3: Fairfield University’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony – The fun begins at 6:15 p.m., when the University welcomes the entire Fairfield community to campus for some Stag cheer. In addition to the tree lighting, Lucas the Stag and Santa Claus will be posing for pictures, two University singing groups – The Bensonians and Sweet Harmony – will be performing songs of the season, and hot cocoa and cookies will be served.
Thursday, Dec. 5: The 6th Annual Holiday Shop & Stroll – Sponsored by the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce, the Fairfield University Downtown Bookstore will participate in the 6th Annual Holiday Shop & Stroll. Offering free treats, caroling, and a host of holiday cheer, visitors can join in on the fun from 6 – 9 p.Christmas songs intermingled with classic Celtic tunes.m.
Thursday, Dec. 5: A Celtic Family Christmas at the Quick – The Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts will welcome the award-winning fiddle virtuosos Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy, alongside their children for a perfect family evening of Christmas songs intermingled with classic Celtic tunes. Friday, Dec. 6: Downtown Cabaret Story Time – The Downtown Bookstore will open its doors at 4:30 p.m. for a Downtown Cabaret Story Time. Kids ages 3 and older can enjoy a song from holiday favorite “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” a reading of the classic story, a photo opportunity, and a fun holiday craft.
Saturday, Dec. 7: Downtown Bookstore's Holiday Open House – From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the store will feature a “Silly-Dilly Sing-A-Long" with author Alan Katz, a visit from Santa — who will make his appearance on a fire truck, and even a chance to meet the Grinch during a story time dedicated to the classic tale.
