Stags in Action This Weekend at MAAC Swimming & Diving Championships

Men's and women's teams are both in the hunt for a team title after Day 2.

The Fairfield University swimming & diving teams are in action this week at the MAAC Championships at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. At the midway point of the four-day event, the defending champion women’s program sits in second place, while the men’s team is currently ranked third.

The women have collected seven medals to date, including three MAAC Championship performances. Nora Segurola Larrinaga beat the field in the 50y freestyle, Alexis Gaulin ’24 turned in a program-record shattering performance in the one-meter dive, and the 200y medley relay team of Segurola Larrinaga, Erini Pappas ’25, Tone Sandsjo ’27, and Maggie O’Donnell ’24 broke the Fairfield and MAAC record in the event.

The men’s team has been led by a gold medal in the three-meter dive for Andrew Cataldo ’27. Dillon O’Connor ’25 picked up the silver medal in the event, marking the first time that the Fairfield men have claimed the top two spots in a diving event. The Stags have earned a total five medals on the men’s ledger.

Action from Geneva resumes on Friday afternoon with the 2024 MAAC Champions set to be crowned on Saturday.
