The top-seeded Stags are vying for a second consecutive conference title.

The 2025 NEC Field Hockey Champion will be crowned on campus at University Field on Saturday when the top-seeded Fairfield Stags host third-seeded Wagner at noon. The showdown is a rematch of last season’s conference championship, which was won by the Stags to claim their berth in the NCAA postseason.

Tickets for Saturday’s game are on sale now at fairfieldstags.com/tix. Admission is free for current Fairfield students with a StagCard.

The Stags are the NEC Regular Season Champions after running off a perfect 9-0 record against conference foes as part of their 14-5 overall mark. Fairfield defeated Rider in Thursday’s semifinal, 2-0, with Catherine Fitzgerald ’27 accounting for both goals.

Wagner avenged a regular season loss to Saint Francis with a 1-0 victory in the second semifinal on Thursday. The Seahawks will bring an 8-11 record to University Field on Saturday.

Fairfield won the regular season meeting with Wagner, 3-2 in overtime on Staten Island on Sept. 19.

Fairfield University Field Hockey is in its first season under the direction of Head Coach Laura Gebhart. Gebhart and Assistant Coach Kaelyn Long were named the NEC Coaching Staff of the Year after winning the league’s regular season crown. In addition, Pilar Mengotti ’26 was named the NEC Defensive Player of the Year, Catalina Ness ’27 was tabbed as the NEC Midfielder of the Year, and Kaelyn Fogelson ’29 was selected as the NEC Rookie of the Year.

The Stags have previously won three NEC Championships (2019, 2021, 2024) in addition to two MAAC Championships (2015, 2017) and one Patriot League Championship (2001). Fairfield is seeking its seventh berth to the NCAA postseason.
