Bennett Center to Host Former Foreign Minister of Israel Tzipi Livni, April 4

Fairfield will welcome Livni for an in-person conversation on her vision of the State of Israel as a Jewish democratic state, its identity, and the set of values this vision represents.

On Monday, April 4, 2022, at 7:30 p.m., the Bennett Center for Judaic Studies will present “Israel — Present Challenges and Visions for the Future”, led by Tzipi Livni, former Foreign Minister of Israel, Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Justice, and Leader of the Opposition. The lecture is free and open to the public, and will also be livestreamed on thequicklive.com. Register to attend at fairfield.edu/bennettprograms

Widely considered to be one of the most powerful women in Israel since Golda Meir, Livni’s lecture will discuss her vision of the State of Israel as a Jewish democratic state, its identity, and the set of values this vision represents. She will speak about the security challenges Israel is facing, the opportunities for peace, and her own experience as Israel’s Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.

A politician, diplomat, and lawyer, she is known for her efforts to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict where she served as the chief negotiator during the last two rounds of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians. Livni has served in eight different cabinet positions throughout her career, setting the record for most government roles held by an Israeli woman. She has achieved a number of milestones in Israeli government, as the first female Vice Prime Minister, Justice Minister, Agriculture Minister, Immigration and Absorption Minister, and Housing Minister.

Previously named one of "150 Women Who Shake the World" by Newsweek and The Daily Beast, and included in the "Time 100" list of most influential people and the Forbes' list of "100 Most Powerful Women," Livni has been sought out to speak everywhere from The World Economic Forum to Fortune's "Most Powerful Women" Summit.
