Downtown Fairfield was abuzz Nov. 13 and 14.

This past weekend marked two 10-year anniversaries in town: the celebration of the Fairfield University Downtown Bookstore's ten years on Post Road, and the tenth running of the Colony Grill ‘Hot Oil’ 5K.

Months of preparation went into customizing a day to celebrate the bookstore’s successful first decade downtown. Store signage was updated to fit new brand standards, new photography was chosen for redesigned column wraps, and a custom “Celebrating 10 Years Downtown” logo was created.

On Saturday, guests were welcomed by a large red and white balloon arch in the front of the store, along with other balloon bouquets. There were guest speakers from the town of Fairfield and University administration, University cheer and dance team members, and University athletes. Lucas the Stag, children’s crafts, and a balloon animal artist rounded out the day’s entertainment.

As a sponsor of the 'Hot Oil' 5K, volunteers from Fairfield University assisted in registering and distributing goodie bags with both Colony Grill and Fairfield University branding. Lucas the Stag had a busy weekend and joined in the fun on Sunday as well. The race saw thousands congregate in downtown, all in the name of our Veterans.
