Fairfield Baseball defeated Monmouth and Canisius in back-to-back elimination games.

Fairfield Baseball continues its historic 2021 season, winning elimination games against Monmouth and Canisius in the 2021 MAAC Championship. The Stags have now recorded 37 wins this season, breaking the prior single-season mark of 35 established during the 2019 campaign.

Following a rare misstep with a loss to Canisius in Wednesday’s tournament opener, the Stags bounced back in the elimination bracket with a 3-1 win over the visiting Hawks on Thursday. Jake Noviello ’22 pitched 8.2 innings to earn the win on the mound with John Signore ’19 M’21 recording the final out to notch his first career save. Trey McLoughlin '21 followed with 11 strikeouts in Friday morning's win over the Golden Griffins.

At 37-2 on the season after Thursday’s victory, Fairfield has entered the national conversation and earned rankings from Baseball America and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers’ Association. The Stags have also been consistently among the top 5 in the nation in RPI, including a stay at #1.

MAAC Championship action continues Friday on campus at Alumni Diamond with the Stags challenging Rider at 1 p.m. If Fairfield is victorious, they will force a Saturday "winner-take-all" game with the Broncs for the MAAC Championship crown.

All of this week’s games are open to the public. Fans are welcome to sit in the Alumni Diamond bleachers or bring chairs and sit outside the venue. Every game will also be broadcast live by the Stags Sports Network on ESPN+. Visit FairfieldStags.com for the most current information on the Stags’ postseason run.
