A New Name – the Center for Social Impact, Feb. 19

Center for Social Impact

The Center for Social Impact will be introduced as the new identity for Fairfield's formerly named Center for Faith and Public Life during a special presentation at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Grounded in Fairfield University’s Jesuit mission to share its intellectual resources for the betterment of the community and to educate students to be socially and morally responsible, the Center for Faith and Public Life will be re-introduced as the Center for Social Impact. On Wednesday, Feb. 19, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the Aloysius P. Kelley, S.J., Center, Director Melissa Quan and other speakers will present the meaning behind the new name, as well as its goals and future initiatives.

“We are excited to re-introduce the Center to the University and broader community,” said Quan. “The new name reflects our Jesuit, Catholic mission to engage with the social realities of our world and to develop students who are intellectually and morally prepared to address the world’s more pressing concerns.”

The celebration of the Center’s new name will be an opportunity to not only appreciate those who have contributed to its growth, but also to connect and learn about new and exciting ways for faculty, staff, students, and community partners to become engaged in the Center’s work in the areas of community-engaged learning, research, and action.

The Center for Social Impact’s relaunch reception will also feature a selection of raffle prizes from local artisans and global partners, including Fair Trade crafts, a handbag and laptop sleeve from Our Woven Community, an experiential farm day from Green Village Initiative, and a FEED Basket from the Council of Churches of Greater Bridgeport.
