Fairfield Senior Class Gift Committee Launches Winter Coat Drive

Winter coats

In partnership with the non-profit agency Person-to-Person, the Senior Class Gift Committee has set a goal to donate at least 100 coats to families in need this winter.

"The senior class is hosting a coat drive to pay it forward and to live out the Jesuit values that have been instilled in us throughout our time at Fairfield."

This winter, the Senior Class Gift Committee is hosting a Coat Drive for students, alumni, parents, and friends to bring in coats that they no longer use and donate them to Person-to-Person, a nonprofit agency in Norwalk that provides basic goods and services for those in need throughout the local community.

The coat drive is currently running, and interested donors can drop-off coats through Sunday, January 27, 2019 in the John A. Barone Campus Center at the Information Desk located on the second floor. The goal of the Coat Drive is to have at least 100 coats donated to Person-to-Person by the end of the week.

Fairfield University’s Senior Class Gift was created as a way for the Senior Class at Fairfield University to say "thank you” for the experience and memories that Fairfield has given them throughout the years."As students at Fairfield, we have been blessed with an incredible community – faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and more – who have greatly contributed to making our dreams attainable” explained Senior Class Gift President Dani Musacchio '19. “The Senior Class Gift committee is hosting a coat drive to pay it forward and to live out the Jesuit values that have been instilled in us throughout our time at Fairfield. We are taking the opportunity to be 'men and women for others' by helping those in our community who are in need."

By partnering with a local nonprofit, the Senior Class Gift committee hopes to make a lasting impact on local families. Person-to-Person was chosen because of its outstanding mission to provide emergency assistance to help local families move towards financial stability. Whether it be providing food, clothing, summer camp experiences for children, or even college scholarships, Person-to-Person strives to help break the cycle of poverty, which is a mission that the University community stands behind.

This year’s Senior Class Gift is dedicated to making an impact on the community and the Coat Drive is just one example of the charitable spirit of Fairfield students. For more information about Senior Class Gift, visit fairfield.edu/seniorclassgift.
