There’s no need to leave the country in search of the best of British theatre; enjoy a front row experience at Fairfield University’s Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts this fall.

In celebration of National Theatre Live’s 10th anniversary, Fairfield University’s Quick Center for the Arts has announced expanded NT Live programming for the 2019-20 season.

NT Live delivers high definition broadcasts of the best of British live theatre. Because each satellite broadcast is created with a cinema audience in mind — complete with close-ups, wide shots of the stage, and incredible sound — the NT Live experience is just as entertaining, inspiring, and immersive as having a front row seat at the live performance.

All HD broadcasts presented at the Quick are accompanied by insider footage and interviews, providing unique access to London’s National Theatre and other preeminent theatre venues.

Scheduled performances for the 2019-20 season include:

  • The Lehman Trilogy (Tuesday, September 10, 2019, 2 p.m. & 7 p.m.): Audiences will be fascinated by the 163-year backstory of Lehman Brothers, the global financial services firm that collapsed into bankruptcy and triggered the largest financial crisis in history. This story of a family and a company that changed the world is directed by Academy Award-winner Sam Mendes (SkyfallThe Ferryman).
  • Fleabag (Friday, September 20, 2019, 8 p.m.): This hilarious, one-woman show features a “greedy, perverted, selfish, apathetic, cynical, depraved, morally bankrupt woman who can’t even call herself a feminist,” according to Vulture.com. Written and performed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Killing Eve) and directed by Vicky Jones, the title character was the inspiration for the current Emmy-nominated Fleabag Amazon/BBC television series.
  • A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Tuesday, October 29, 2019, 2 p.m. & 7 p.m.): A not-to-be-missed classic, Shakespeare’s romantic comedy features a stage transformed into a magical forest, a dream world of flying faeries, and a feuding king and queen. A review in The Guardian noted that “five stars [out of five] may not be enough” for this NT Live performance, which will entrance the entire family.
  • Hansard (Tuesday, November 19, 2019, 2 p.m. & 7 p.m.): A witty and devastating portrait of the British ruling class that many can relate to — including domestic bickering, gardens destroyed by rodents, and hangovers. The winner of the Edgerton Foundation New Plays Award, Hansard features multi-Olivier Award-winning actors Lindsay Duncan (Nöel Coward’s Private Lives, That Face, Royal Court) and Alex Jennings (The Crown) as a married couple contending with an irreconcilable difference.
  • Present Laughter (Monday, December 2, 2019, 2 p.m. & 7 p.m.): A modern reflection on fame, desire, and loneliness, Present Laughter tells the story of a star actor’s colorful As his life spirals out of control, the actor (played by Andrew Scott of BBC’s Sherlock)  must confront an identity crisis, competing relationships, and the prospect of love.
  • All My Sons (Wednesday, January 22, 2020, 2 p.m. & 7 p.m.): A special performance of Arthur Miller’s blistering drama, featuring Academy Award-winning actress Sally Field (Steel Magnolias, Brothers & Sisters) and Bill Pullman (The Sinner, Independence Day). Taking place in 1947, the story focuses on the impact of war on an American family, and the price of chasing the American dream.
