Library Services First Year Students

Personal Librarian Program

In partnership with the FYE program, the DiMenna-Nyselius Library pairs each first-year student with a personal librarian. The goal of the Personal Librarian Program is to introduce first-years to the collections and services of the DiMenna-Nyselius Library, and to be a touchpoint of support for each and every student within the library.  Librarians are information experts who prepare students for university-level research.

Students will receive their first email from their librarian around the first week of classes and then around 1 email per month with research tips, library news, and more. Students can contact their personal librarian via phone or email for research help, citations, or to ask ANY questions about University or Library services or to set up an appointment for in depth research.

Personal librarians are automatically assigned to each FYE class (including transfer FYE groups) and will get in touch with the New Student Leader and Community Associate at the beginning of the fall semester. NSLs/CAs may wish to schedule a brief classroom visit towards the beginning of the semester so as to make a face-to-face connection with students.
