Women and Leadership Series Welcomes The Economist Editor Zanny Minton Beddoes, September 27

Zanny Minton Beddoes, first female editor-in-chief of The Economist, will speak at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts, as part of the Open VISIONS Forum's Women and Leadership Series, sponsored by Bank of America.

Fairfield University’s Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts presents a special opportunity to engage with a renowned global economics expert, Zanny Minton Beddoes, on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 8 p.m. The discussion, “Your Kitchen Table Meets Global Disruptions: Economic Challenges Near and Far,” is part of the Quick’s Open VISIONS Forum | Bank of America Women and Leadership Series.

Minton Beddoes is the first female editor of The Economist in its 170-plus-year history. In addition to several previous roles at the magazine, she has served as an economist for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and as an adviser to the Minister of Finance in Poland. She was named one of the “Most Powerful Women in the World” by Forbes.

With her trademark wit and accessibility, Minton Beddoes will share her expert insights on the world economy, with a focus on the dynamics of the upcoming 2024 Presidential election, the state of the European Union, and corporate America.

Her unparalleled influence and access has given her opportunities to engage with global leaders and headliners across the globe. She is known as a proponent of healthy debate, and for not shying away from controversy, including her recent interviews with Ukrainian President Zelensky and American political strategist Steve Bannon.

“This is an incredible opportunity to hear first-hand from one of the brightest economic minds of our time,” said Peter Van Heerden, executive director of the Quick Center for the Arts. “Zanny has the unique ability to provide sophisticated yet straightforward insights on the past, present, and future state of our world,” Van Heerden added.
