RugbyFest, Food Trucks, and Fun — AFW Is Just One Week Away

RugbyFest, Food Trucks, and Fun — AFW Is Just One Week Away

Tickets are still available for Alumni & Family Weekend, Oct. 18 – 20, 2019.

In one week, Stag Country will be a little fuller than usual — that’s because family, friends, and alumni of Fairfield University will be on hand to help celebrate Alumni & Family Weekend 2019.

The annual October tradition is set to offer a weekend full of fun activities and special events for students, alumni, and families. It all kicks off on Friday, Oct. 18 with some high-octane play from Fairfield’s field hockey team as they take on the Rider Broncs at University Field. While a comedy show and DIY canvas workshop round out Friday’s fun, Saturday’s schedule presents a day-long series of events that alumni, families, and students won’t want to miss.

Beginning with a Fairfield Breakfast in the Tully Dining Commons, Saturday will feature the Academic and Spirituality Fair, in which guests can get to know the faces of Fairfield’s academic and spiritual offerings on campus. At 10 a.m., the Fairfield community will celebrate our sophomore nursing students as they are formally inducted into the start of their clinical experience in their official White Coat Ceremony in the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts.

The weekend really amps up at 11 a.m. on Saturday with the Friends of Fairfield Rugby Homecoming RugbyFest. This year’s RugbyFest kicks off with the Fairfield Women Ruggers and & Alumnae Game, followed by the Red Rugger Alumni Game at noon featuring President Mark R. Nemec, PhD, at Grauert Field. At noon, our annual StagFest kicks off, featuring food trucks such as Colony Grill pizza, Donut Crazy, Little Red Waffle Truck, and Super Duper Weenie. A wine and beer garden will also be on tap for StagFest, as well as a petting zoo in the Lil’ Stags Zone, a Stags Pep Rally, live band entertainment and the JTB Heart Walk.

Sunday, cap off the weekend with brunch in the Dogwood and Oak Rooms, Mass in the Egan Chapel of St. Ignatius of Loyola, and a Glee Club concert to launch its 73rd season of music.

Throughout the weekend, alumni will enjoy mini-reunions with friends and classmates, and they'll get to see first-hand what’s new on campus. Parents and families will be on hand to see how their sons and daughters are doing after a couple of months away at college. Friends are sure to enjoy all Fairfield has to offer during this can’t-miss weekend.
