Four Fairfield University Women's Basketball team members gained invaluable experience on the national stage at the USA Basketball Women’s 3X Showcase in Mesa, Arizona, May 9 –10.

Representing the Stags, Meghan Andersen ’27, Kaety L’Amoreaux ’26, Jillian Huerter ’26, and Lana McCarthy ’28 won two games in the showcase to reach the semifinals of the tournament.

MAAC Championship MVP Jillian Huerter '26 made her 3X3 debut with the Stags.

"It was an honor to watch our student-athletes compete at such a high level for USA Basketball," said Head Coach Carly Thibault-DuDonis. "Not only did we reach the semi-finals and take a step forward from last year, but we were very balanced on offense and showed some toughness on the defensive end. Ultimately, this was another incredible opportunity for our student-athletes to prove they can compete with anyone in the country, and they did just that."

The Stags started their stay with a convincing 21-6 victory over a team from Stephen F. Austin University. Fairfield later defeated an Arizona State squad, 17-12, in the quarterfinals before falling to the eventual tournament champions Phoenix in the semifinals. Team Phoenix was comprised of Power 4 student-athletes representing LSU, Minnesota, Oregon, and Georgia.

In total, Fairfield scored 80 points in five games to average 16.0 per contest, the fourth highest in the field.

Different than traditional 5-on-5 basketball, 3x3 is played on a half-court with a 10-minute game clock and 12-second shot clock. Play is continuous, as teams "clear" the ball behind the two-point line following a made basket, defensive rebound, or steal. The first team to score 21 points (via one-point and two-point field goals) is victorious. If time expires, the team leading wins.

The 2026 event marked Fairfield's second consecutive spring competing in the national showcase.

Fairfield Women’s Basketball is coming off its third straight MAAC Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. The Stags have received votes in the Associated Press (AP) Top 25 national poll in each of the last three campaigns including a No. 25 ranking in last year's poll.
