Learn by doing. Meditz in action.

Experiential learning in the John Charles Meditz College of Arts and Sciences integrates innovative research, internships, community engagement, and interdisciplinary collaboration to connect theory with practice, developing critical thinking, effective communication, creativity, and a deeper understanding of the world to prepare students for meaningful careers.

Research

Research conducted within the Meditz College of Arts and Sciences provides students the opportunity for faculty mentorship, active learning, and the ability to discover knowledge while being challenged in new ways. Research projects are conducted in the areas of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), the humanities, arts, and social sciences—with over half being presented at national scholarly meetings and/or published in professional journals and manuscripts. Community-Engaged Learning Projects

Engage directly with real organizations through collaborative, project-based learning that brings classroom concepts to life. Students work with external partners to address challenges, develop practical solutions, and present their ideas to professionals—gaining valuable experience and confidence in applying their skills beyond the classroom. The Adrienne Kirby ’81 Family Literacy Project partners with the PBS Department and Hall Neighborhood House to bring literacy-focused initiatives directly to the local community. Another recent project saw Meditz students pitch policy solutions to the Bridgeport Regional Business Council.
