Research conducted at the Smith Evolutionary Anatomy Lab investigates how evolutionary processes shape the sensory systems that enable vertebrates to move, perceive, and communicate. This research provides insight into the evolutionary foundations of sensory systems and their influence on human perception and behavior.
For the first time ever, 13 students from the John Charles Meditz College of Arts and Sciences spent spring break in Los Angeles, Calif., where they visited Warner Bros., The Walt Disney Company, Paramount, Netflix, Paradigm Talent Agency, Picture Shop, and the creative studio MakeMake. The Stags in LA trip was organized by Fairfield Meditz’s Office of Career and Professional Development.
Sophia Haber Brock ’26 brought her media skills to the Fox & Friends set, where she pitched classmates Madison Governale ’26 and Paige Governale ’27 for the Young Entrepreneurs segment, earning their brand, Wave Creations, a live national spotlight.
Working in collaboration with the Bridgeport Regional Business Council (BRBC), students in the “State & Local Politics” course taught by Gayle Alberda, PhD, conducted in-depth research on high-priority regional issues and developed policy briefs designed to inform real-world decision-making.
Maeve Frize ’26 was a digital marketing intern at Ann Taylor, where she has participated in strategy meetings, compiled daily channel reports across digital platforms, and assisted with paid media and site promotion while strengthening her skills and curiosity in the field.
Nicholas Smith ’26, a philosophy and psychology major, interned in the Human Resources department at Neuronetics, Inc., where he helped implement HRIS systems, streamline performance reviews, and conduct behavioral analyses for key roles.
