A year of service, leadership, and community engagement highlights the chapter’s continued commitment to Jesuit values.
Fairfield University’s chapter of Alpha Sigma Nu (AΣN), the National Jesuit Honor Society, has been recognized for an exceptional year. The chapter’s accomplishments include expanded programming, increased campus visibility, and dedicated member participation. The continued efforts reflect a commitment to the Jesuit values of scholarship, loyalty, and service to the Fairfield community and beyond.
Service continues to be a focal point for the chapter’s activities. This past year, members assembled snack bags for children facing food insecurity, created holiday cards for patients at Bridgeport Hospital, and prepared hygiene kits for families supported by Malta House, a nonprofit helping young mothers in need. The chapter also partnered with Fairfield Bellarmine students and the Build-A-House Program to broaden participation and its impact through collaborative service. These initiatives exemplify AΣN’s call to be “men and women for and with others” and highlight the chapter’s commitment to meeting community needs.
Another major highlight of the year was the induction ceremony, held during Alumni and Family Weekend at the Quick Center for the Arts. This year, the chapter recognized Naser Haghbin, PhD, and Julie Marella by granting each of them a 2026 Teacher of the Year Award. George Bauer and Jaclyn Lindsey-Noble were also honored with 2026 Excellence in Teaching Awards.
The chapter also hosted a missioning ceremony to welcome new members and honor graduating seniors, creating a reflective space for connection and transition. Fr. John Mulreany, S.J., the chapter’s advisor, said, “We are pleased to connect the student members with the Jesuit community to provide further opportunities for shared purpose and engagement, and to strengthen ties between students and the broader Jesuit tradition.”
“By combining intentional programming, sustained outreach, and a strong service ethic, Fairfield University’s AΣN chapter has demonstrated how student leadership can bring the society’s values to life in a dynamic and visible way,” said Clara Dwyer, Executive Director of Alpha Sigma Nu. “The work of Fairfield’s chapter and partnership with the university’s leadership reflects a model of engagement that continues to enrich the campus community while advancing the mission of Alpha Sigma Nu.”
