Enhanced Shuttles Offer Early Trips to Town & Service to Dolan Hall
Based on feedback from the Fairfield University Student Association (FUSA), the University recently announced transportation enhancements that went into effect on Monday, October 20. These enhancements will assist students traveling on campus and to the train station and town, and provides the University community an opportunity to use mass transit to commute to and from campus.
“At the request of the FUSA Student Senate, Student Affairs looked into possible expansion of town shuttle bus hours,” Jim Fitzpatrick, assistant vice president of administration and student affairs, explained. “After discussing times and destinations, it was felt that addressing the needs of student interns was a top priority, so five earlier shuttle times were implemented on class days. I’m hopeful that these new shuttle hours will make travel to Stamford and New York City a little easier and less expensive.”
Earlier Town Shuttle: The town shuttle has been expanded on class days, Monday through Friday, with an earlier start time of 7:30 a.m. The town shuttle will also make four additional morning runs at 8:15 a.m., 9 a.m., 9:45 a.m., and 10:30 a.m. The existing runs at 11:15 a.m. and beyond will continue.
Dolan Hall Shuttle: There is a new campus shuttle traveling from the Barone Campus Center traffic circle to the Dolan Hall traffic circle seven days per week operating every 45 minutes during the academic year beginning at 8:05 a.m. on class days and 11:05 a.m. on weekends.
Hope Agresta ’16, Chair the FUSA Student Senate, reports that the new shuttles address a big concern that students living on the north side of campus in Dolan Hall and the townhouses had about traveling across campus. “It is also a major help to get to the Health Center! That was a main reason we pushed for it and students seem to like it.”
