Looking for Student Peer Mediators
As part of The Lucy Katz Dialogue & Resolution Program, Student Programs & Leadership Development (SPLD) is extending an invitation to students for a unique professional/personal development opportunity.
"As we continue to work towards creating a socially just community at Fairfield University and beyond, we invite students to consider receiving a certification in Social Justice Mediation and become a Peer Mediator/Stag Explorer," explained Kamala Kiem, director of SPLD. "The hope is to continue growing a population of individuals at all levels of the University who, as trained mediators, can cultivate social justice awareness, resolve disputes and attend to social justice concerns--bias incidents, education, conflicts, etc."
The training is a 40-hour commitment (5 days) from January 11-15, 2015 (9 a.m.-5 p.m.). This training costs $1,000 per person; however, there is no charge to students. (Students who live on campus will be allowed to move in early and commuter students may commute from home.)
Please encourage students to apply for this professional/personal development and leadership opportunity to be a Peer Mediator/Stag Explorer. They must complete the application by November 24, 2014.
