Fairfield Hosts AJCU Communication Conference
A major conference bringing together communication experts from Jesuit institutions across the nation will take place from July 16-July 19 at Fairfield University.
The 2014 Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) Communication Conference will feature faculty experts from the fields of communication, journalism, media studies, film, video, and related academic areas. Fairfield University’s Department of Communication is hosting the conference, led by Dr. David Gudelunas, associate professor of communication and chair of the department.
“Fairfield is thrilled to host our colleagues from Jesuit institutions across the country for what promises to be an exciting four days of conversations,” said Dr. Gudelunas. “We will be discussing best practices in communication pedagogy and research and will have several panels that discuss how Catholic and Jesuit mission connects to our disciplines and makes what we do in media, communication, journalism and related areas at Jesuit schools unique.”
Each year the AJCU sponsors over 30 conferences with the goal of providing a forum for the exchange of ideas, information, and best practices; support the professional development of their members; and present opportunities for AJCU representatives to discuss opportunities and challenges in Jesuit higher education.
Dr. Gudelunas said, “The Department of Communication at Fairfield is excited to show our colleagues our campus and to learn about what is happening at our sister institutions. This is the first time Fairfield has hosted the AJCU Communication meeting and we look forward to emerging as better scholars and teachers with lasting connections to our counterparts across the country.”
