Class of 17 arrives on Sept. 1!

June Orientation sees record crowd

Fairfield University hosted two Orientation sessions in June with over 900 families in attendance! We were so happy to meet the families and students of the Class of 2017 and are so excited about welcoming them to the Fairfield family this fall!

Orientation was a whirlwind of fun activities with the purpose of transitioning and acclimating first-year students to the Fairfield campus. New Student Leaders broke the ice with a flash mob to the Class of 2017 theme song "Hall of Fame" by the Script. Students had the opportunity to meet other first-year students, bond with upper-class students, and learn more about the University they are soon going to call home.

The evenings were filled with entertainment hosted by the New Student Leaders, Fairfield University Student Association (FUSA), and others. Fairfield @ Night made an appearance with their "S'mores Under the Stars" program.

The second day, students were supported by students and faculty as they registered for classes.

Fall Welcome begins September 1

Fall Welcome is sure to be an exciting few days for the Class of 2017! First-year students will move in on Sunday, September 1 and attend important sessions during the week to prepare them academically and socially for the year to come.

Once they have settled into their new rooms, they will meet with their New Student Leaders to further aid with the transition to campus and college. Students will also begin forming their residential communities by connecting with their Resident Assistants and Area Coordinators.

There will be a variety of late-night activities offered including live music from a student band, Olympic Games in the Quad, and Fairfield Quest Part II. The next day students will meet with their New Student Leaders to talk about their transition, and then experience “Once a Stag, Always a Stag,” a session all about school spirit.

Students will then have free time to explore campus and the town of Fairfield. On campus students can take part in scheduled activities like Zumba in the Quad, learning campus running route, and join campus tours led by the New Student Leaders.

All invited to Convocation on Tuesday
Convocation will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 5:15 p.m. on Bellarmine Lawn. This is an opportunity for the Fairfield University community to gather together to celebrate the start of the academic year and welcome the newest members of our community. The featured speaker, Dr. Donald Gibson, Dean and Professor of the Charles F. Dolan School of Business, will deliver the addreess entitled, “The Power of One Pen, One Book, One Teacher, One Mind.” In addition, the Class of 2017 will receive their class gift during Convocation. Convocation will be followed by a community cookout (open to all) on the Oak Room Patio.
