10 Ways Fairfield University's Career Center Can Help Advance Your Career

The University Career Center serves Fairfield University students with comprehensive career support services, programming, and resources. Did you know you can even borrow interview-ready outfits from our centers? Here are 10 ways that our Career Center staff helps prepare you for the jobs of your dreams.

1.  Explore Career Options with Personalized Guidance

Students can make an appointment with a school-specific career counselor or Career Peer Advisor (CPA) to explore careers and develop your resumes, LinkedIn profile, interviewing skills, and much more.

2.  Connect Directly with Employers at Career & Internship Fairs

Students have many opportunities to network with employers (in person and virtually) to learn about internship and employment opportunities available in a broad range of industries.

3.  Develop a Standout Resume

Update your resume with the help of a career counselor or CPA to prepare for Career & Internship Fairs, interviews, or other employment opportunities.

4.  Get Comfortable Networking with Workshops and Employer Panels

Attend career workshops, employer presentations, and alumni panels to start learning about potential careers and practice networking. Students can find a list of all events on Life@Fairfield or your school’s career center announcements.

5.  Set up Your Stags4Hire Account

Stags4Hire, powered by Handshake, provides career advice and instant access to thousands of jobs and internships. Complete your profile to get noticed by employers!

6.  Create a LinkedIn Profile that Impresses

The career counselors and CPAs can help you develop a stronger LinkedIn presence. You can also get a professional headshot taken.

7.  Prepare to Ace the Interview

Hone your interviewing skills by scheduling a mock interview with your school’s career counselor, getting tips from a CPA and practice with InterviewStream, a live video interviewing software.

8.  Visit the Career Closet to Look Your Best

If you need a jacket, blouse, shirt, shoes, a tie or a complete outfit for an interview or networking event, make an appointment at careers@fairfield.edu to visit the Career Closet.

9.  Spend a Day Shadowing Alumni

Juniors and seniors have an opportunity to shadow a professional alumnus/a over winter break. Students will be matched with alumni working in the industry you are interested in learning about.
