10 Reasons Students Love Fairfield University

10 Reasons Students Love Fairfield University

By Angie Dortenzio '23

Love is in the air! This Valentine’s Day, we’re curious which parts of Fairfield make your hearts skip a beat. I can’t list them all, but here are 10 top reasons by a student for students that summarize why we LOVE spending so much time in Stag Country.

1.  The People

People at Fairfield University

Whether it’s seeing my classmates from across the quad, or saying “hi” to my favorite professor, I love seeing members of our Fairfield community all around campus! The energy and excitement that come with the people are big parts of what makes Fairfield great.

2.  Our Stunning Campus

Summertime at Fairfield University

From the bright green grass in the spring and summer, to the snow covered grounds throughout wintertime, to the golden leaves in the fall, I love the beautiful campus all year long! Going for walks around Fairfield or finding a nice bench next to Bellarmine pond make for some really serene moments.

3.  Lucas the Stag

Fairfield University Mascot, Lucas the Stag

Who doesn’t LOVE Lucas the Stag? He is always pumping up the energy at sporting events and has his ‘Stags Up!” hands at the ready to pose for a photo. Did you know Lucas is even on TikTok now? I can’t help but smile when I see Lucas.

4.  Ice Cream from The Tully*

If you asked me, I could spend all day at the Tully Dining Commons! There are so many options and something for everyone no matter what your taste or dining restrictions require. The ice cream station is a fan favorite, with Graham Cracker S’mores ranking as my all-time favorite flavor.

5.  The DiMenna-Nyselius Library

The DiMenna-Nyselius Library

Sometimes I need some time to escape from the hustle and bustle of campus life. Escaping to the quiet library is a perfect place to get some work done and be productive. You can even head outside to relax on the grass of the library lawn to catch up with friends and take in some fresh scenery.

6.  Stag Spirit

Fairfield University New Student Leaders

Our Fairfield community is a very passionate bunch! If you’re a current Stag, work at the University, or are part of the exclusive group that is Fairfield alumni, you probably rock some red gear for Fairfield Friday or daily walks around Stag Country. I love the school spirit at Fairfield that each member carries with them on campus and beyond.

7.  The Chicken Teriyaki Bowls from the Stag (This may beat the ice cream!)

Sodexo Chicken Teriyaki Bowl

One of my favorite meals on campus includes the chicken teriyaki bowls from The Stag! A warm bowl of rice, flavorful chicken, and your choice of decadent sauces is so filling and makes the BEST lunch on campus.

8.  Campus Events*

Various campus organizations, such as the Fairfield University Student Association (FUSA), put on amazing events to engage students and create great campus life. President’s Ball on the Bellarmine Lawn is my favorite, a night of dancing complete with good food with our fellow Stags!

9.  The Beach*

Less than ten minutes from campus is Fairfield Beach and Lantern Point, a place where students can enjoy a meal on the beach or time under the sun with their friends. Did you know this is also the home to many of our senior Stags living off campus?

10.  The View of the Long Island Sound

Finally, on a clear day, you can see the Long Island sound from the top of Bellarmine Hill! I love enjoying sunset yoga with a view to round out a busy afternoon.

This list could go on and on, it’s hard to cap the list to a favorite few! What do you love most about Fairfield University? Share with us on social with #StagCountry.
