Missoula Children’s Theatre and Summer Camp Intensives at the Quick

The Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts is home to exciting visual and performing arts summer classes and camps that encourage children to explore the arts and discover their passion.

The Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts at Fairfield University is delighted to again offer Missoula Children’s Theatre and Summer Camp Intensives, taught by local artists, and covering a wide range of visual and performing arts forms. Summer programs at the Quick provide an opportunity for collaboration, growth, and the creation of lifelong memories.

Classes in our Summer Camp Intensives feature a variety of dance and theatre genres including jazz, contemporary, and musical theatre dance, taught by professional dancer Lindsay Orr. A class in introductory circus skills taught by Cynthia Rauschert will teach kids how to juggle, plate-spin, and walk on stilts. Back by popular demand are our “Singing for the Stage” and “Acting & Audition Prep” classes taught by Juilliard-trained singer Lucia Palmieri.

“Collaging Intensives,” taught by Greg Aimé, will provide a space for children to explore their artistic creativity in both digital and paper form. Sewing and fashion illustration courses will again be taught by art director, curator, and fashion designer Sooo-z Mastropietro. A fun new offering, “Wizarding” is a class in which participants will create their own wand, sculpt clay into magical creatures, and learn the history behind legendary wizard characters. This class will be taught by Christine Jewell.

The Quick Center is also celebrating its 32nd season of Missoula Children’s Theatre. There are six sessions to choose from: Hercules, Rapunzel, King Arthur’s Quest, Cinderella, Beauty Lou and the Country Beast, and The Secret Garden. Missoula Children’s Theatre is open to students in grades 1 through 12. Each week culminates in a full-scale production featuring costumes, sets, songs, and dance.

Finally, we are offering Extra, Extra!, a hands-on additional theatre instruction program where campers can stay after Missoula camp each day to work directly with the Missoula directors in small groups.
