With 15,455 total applications and an acceptance rate less than 45 percent, Fairfield’s Class of 2027 is already making University history.

Our future Stags represent the essence of Fairfield... they are intelligent, critical thinkers and magis-driven leaders with deep concern for their neighbors.

Thousands of potential Stags celebrated admission offers last week, after rising to the top of a highly competitive pool with a record number of applications from around the world.

Drawing from a collective of 15,455 applicants, the University hit a 44.9 percent acceptance rate this year, the lowest in Fairfield history, according to Vice President for Strategic Enrollment Corry Unis.

Dropping 14 percent from the previous year, the University’s acceptance rate has been reduced by more than 25 percent over the last five years. During that same time, undergraduate applications have grown by more than 35 percent, continuing a trend of Fairfield’s momentum growing so strong that each year’s enrollment goals exceed the last.

“We continue to be amazed by our prospective students,” Unis said. “Our future Stags represent the essence of Fairfield. They are intelligent, critical thinkers and magis-driven leaders with deep concern for their neighbors. We can’t wait to welcome the Class of 2027, and we look forward to the remarkable contributions they will undoubtedly make to our campus community.”

In addition to representing the largest pool of applicants in University history, Fairfield’s Class of 2027 is also anticipated to be the most diverse. Admitted students represent 1,455 high schools across the United States, District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, as well as 39 countries around the world. Of the 6,940 students admitted, 557 are currently enrolled in a Jesuit or Cristo Rey high school.

In terms of academic strength, admitted students averaged a weighted GPA of 3.85 with an average SAT score of 1344 among those who submitted.

Over the next several weeks, the University will be hosting a series of in-person and virtual events to help admitted students make their enrollment decisions before the May 1 deadline. On April 2 and April 15, the Office of Undergraduate Admission will host two in-person sessions of Fairfield in Focus, the University’s highly attended admitted student day, in addition to a variety of virtual and on-campus offerings, including parent conversations with the vice president of strategic enrollment, information sessions, an overnight multicultural visit program, opportunities to shadow a current Stag, and school-specific visits.
