Two Stags Reach 1,000 Career Point Milestones

Callie Cavanaugh ’21 and Jake Wojcik ’23 both eclipsed 1,000 points within a six-day span.

In a span of less than a week, Callie Cavanaugh ’21 and Jake Wojcik ’23 became the latest Fairfield basketball players to reach 1,000 career points. Cavanaugh hit the mark in a Jan. 7 win over Manhattan, and Wojcik netted his 1,000th point on Jan. 13 at Iona.

Cavanaugh reached the 1,000-point plateau with a buzzer-beating three-pointer at the end of the first quarter against the Jaspers. She finished with a game-high 16 points as the Stags came away with a thrilling 52-50 win. Cavanaugh began her career at Florida International University, scoring 161 points in the 2017-18 season. She is in her fourth active season with the Stags, racking up 885 points in a Fairfield uniform. An All-MAAC Second Team performer last season, she started all 32 game for the MAAC Champion Stags. This season, she enters the weekend as the MAAC’s leading scorer with 16.9 points per contest.

Wojcik is also a transfer student, netting 346 points in two seasons at Richmond before joining the Stags. He has scored 673 points to date in a Fairfield uniform for a current total of 1,019 points. Wojcik’s milestone bucket came as a part of a 16-point day on Friday at MAAC preseason favorite Iona. He added a game-high and personal season-high 17 points two days later in the Stags’ road win at Saint Peter’s.

Fairfield Women’s Basketball entered the weekend with a record of 9-7 overall and 5-2 in the MAAC. After last Sunday’s win over the defending conference champion Peacocks, Fairfield Men’s Basketball in 7-10 on the season with a 3-4 league tally.
