On the heels of a fourth consecutive league title, Fairfield University's women’s lacrosse team has been selected as the preseason favorite in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Coaches’ Poll. The 2023 season begins this Saturday, Feb. 11, at Rafferty Stadium where the Stags will host Holy Cross at 1 p.m.

Admission is free for all fans at every women’s lacrosse regular-season home game this season.

Fairfield garnered seven of the nine first-place votes cast by the conference’s head coaches. Siena and MAAC newcomer Mount St. Mary’s tied for second place on the ledger, and each garnered one of the two remaining first-place votes. Niagara, Canisius, Iona, Manhattan, Marist, and Quinnipiac complete the preseason ledger.

The Stags also placed a trio of honorees on the Preseason All-MAAC Team: Elizabeth Talluto ’23, and graduate students Nicollette LaVista ’22 and Caroline Mangan ’22.

Saturday’s meeting with Holy Cross is the first of seven home games slated for the new turf of Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium.
