Fairfield VP of Finance Michael Trafecante Among Connecticut’s Top 25 CFOs

Finance & Investing's top 25 chief financial officers across the state represent a diverse group of industries and organizations.

Fairfield University's vice president for finance and chief financial officer Michael Trafecante MBA’01, P’22,’21,'19, has been named one of the Top 25 CFOs in Connecticut for 2023 by Finance & Investing, an online business resource. This year’s awardees represent a diverse array of industries in the Nutmeg State — from insurance, real estate, and gaming, to education, aerospace, and the arts. CFOs who made the list hail from institutions and companies such as WeWork, AmeriCares, InGenius Prep, BioXcel Therapeutics, The Taft School, Avon Old Farms, American Ambulance Service, and Mystic Aquarium.

Trafecante is a CPA and has more than 25 years of financial management experience spanning the areas of public accounting, private industry, higher education, and investment management. Throughout his career, he has held leadership roles in accounting and finance operations including financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, planning and analysis, treasury, internal controls and compliance, risk management, and payroll. Prior to his role at Fairfield, Trafecante served as the treasury lead of corporate finance at Bridgewater Associates, as senior vice president and corporate controller at Velocity Express, and as senior manager at KPMG. His career was launched at Deloitte & Touche where he served as an audit manager. A Fairfield University alumnus, Trafecante earned his MBA in finance in 2001. He earned his BA degree in accounting from Assumption College.
