Spring Stags Begin Playoff Push

Fairfield Women's Lacrosse celebrates a goal in last month's win at Iona

Action on campus continues this weekend.

The spring season for Fairfield Athletics has reached the thick of conference play, with 10 teams of Stags making their charge toward the postseason. The upcoming slate includes five teams that will be in action on campus throughout the month of April.

Four-time defending MAAC Champions, Fairfield Women's Lacrosse is vying to keep the crown in Stag Country with the conference slate reaching the halfway point this Saturday, April 8. The Stags will host perennial rival Siena at 1 p.m. on Conway Field at Rafferty. Fairfield closes out the home portion of the schedule on the following Saturday, April 15, with a noon visit from Niagara.

Also at Rafferty Stadium, Men’s Lacrosse has two home games remaining on its CAA schedule. The Stags welcome league newcomers Monmouth and Hampton on a pair of Saturdays — April 15 and April 29 — as they make a push to return to the conference postseason for the first time since 2016.

On Alumni Diamond, Fairfield Baseball still has 13 scheduled home games on the docket as the Stags’ regular season spans all the way to graduation weekend. The top six teams in the MAAC will convene at Clover Stadium in Pomona, N.Y., for the conference tournament on May 24-27.

Stags Softball will also play into May for a place in their conference tournament. The Stags are entering a long MAAC road stretch after starting league play at 2-2, with home series with Iona, Siena, and Marist awaiting on the regular season slate.

Fairfield Men’s and Women’s Tennis have both posted strong starts to the MAAC schedule as each team eyes another trip to the playoffs. The women have concluded the home portion of their slate, while the men have an April 11 visit from Marist on the docket.

In action across campus, Fairfield's men’s and women’s Golf and Rowing programs continue to compete with their respective championship seasons on the horizon. The 2023 MAAC Golf Championship is on April 21-23 at Disney’s Palm Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Women’s Rowing vies for a MAAC crown on May 12 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and Men’s Rowing competes at the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta on May 12-13 in Pennsauken, N.J.
