Fairfield University Brings Robot Delivery to Campus

Fairfield University is the first college in the Northeast to partner with Grubhub and Starship Technologies to offer robot delivery as part of its online and mobile food-ordering service.

Fairfield University has announced the launch of a robot food delivery initiative with mobile ordering and campus-wide delivery.

"Fairfield University is thrilled to partner with Starship and Grubhub — our official mobile ordering and delivery partners — on this innovative robot-delivery initiative," said Matthew Dinnan, assistant vice president for auxiliary services. "As the first college in the Northeast to roll out this technology, our campus is already buzzing with enthusiasm about the new robotic pick-up and delivery service option that will no doubt enhance the student experience here at Fairfield."

Convenient and efficient, students, faculty, and staff just have to download the Grubhub app and create an account in order to choose a campus dining location, place their food and beverage orders, and select a drop-off location where the robot will deliver their food. In addition to credit and debit cards, the University's "Stagbucks" and "Dining Dollars" are accepted as payment.

"As Fairfield advances on the path to national prominence, this new technology serves as yet another example of how Fairfield's innovative approach is integrated not only in our highly ranked academic programs that produce graduates who are future ready, but in every initiative, and in all aspects of student life here at the modern, Jesuit Catholic University," said Vice President of Marketing and Communications Jennifer Anderson.
