The annual awards program recognizes outstanding building projects throughout the state that exemplify team excellence and best practices by project owners, architects, engineers, constructors and trades.

The Charles F. Dolan School of Business has won first place in the “Large Higher Education” category of Connecticut Building Congress’ (CBC) 2022 Project Team Awards.

The team worked cohesively to deliver the project — an 85,000 square foot, state-of-the-art academic facility — within budget and on time for the fall 2019 opening. Techniques such as Gilbane’s Advanced Planning and Scheduling (AP&S) and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) ensured the project remained on schedule and trades were coordinated transparently despite challenges such as expansive sitework, long-lead custom materials, and a unique curved building frame.

Team members include: Fairfield University, Gilbane Building Company, The SLAM Collaborative, Inc., Mackenzie Service Corp., Kohler Ronan, The Huntington Company LLC, Acentech, Assa Abloy Door Security Solutions, Acoustics, Inc., Comnet Communications LLC, Connecticut Mason Contractors, Inc., Construction Specialties of New England, Dalling Construction, Inc., Fire Protection Testing, Inc., HB Communications, Inc., Lockheed Window Corp., MTJ Landscaping Inc., Millwork One, Modern Mechanical Systems, OTIS ELEVATOR, USA, Orchard Painting and Decorating, Inc., Paul Dinto Electrical Contractors, Inc., R&B Ceramic Tile, Inc., Ralph Camputaro & Son Excavating Inc., Shepard Steel Co., Inc., Shuttlesystem/Navetta, Silktown Roofing, K&P Facilities Maintenance, and RJ Kenney.

The CBC recognizes outstanding building projects that exemplify project team excellence and represent the best practices in teamwork by project owners, architects, engineers, constructors, and trades. Each year, the CBC’s Annual Project Team Awards program recognizes projects throughout the state whose team members have met or surpassed goals and achieved higher project quality through this close collaboration.

The Project Team Awards Banquet will take place on June 14, 2022, at The Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, Conn., and will celebrate the Connecticut Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry’s accomplishments for 2022.

Since 1952, CBC has been Connecticut's premier organization whose mission is to provide a collaborative environment that fosters relationships and contributes to the growth and success of the construction industry. Through its Member representatives, CBC is active on the State of Connecticut Construction Services Division Industry Advisory Council (IAC). CBC serves alongside state agency leaders and related professional organizations to improve and streamline work provided by the industry on state projects.
