Fairfield University Women’s Basketball will play for the 2022 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. The title game from Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., will be televised live on ESPNews and streamed on ESPN+.
The top-seeded Stags wrapped up the MAAC Regular Season Championship with a 19-1 conference record and roll into the finals at 24-6 overall after a 75-38 rout of Niagara in Friday’s semifinal round. Fairfield will play the winner of the second semifinal featuring Quinnipiac and Manhattan, scheduled for Friday afternoon.
The Stags are in the midst of a historic campaign, winning their first regular season crown since 2000. For their success this season, Lou Lopez-Senechal ’22 was named the MAAC Player of the Year, Sam Lewis ’20 was selected as the MAAC Sixth Player of the Year and Head Coach Joe Frager was recognized by his peers as the MAAC Coach of the Year.
Fairfield has made four NCAA postseason appearances, advancing to the national tournament as MAAC Champions in 1988, 1991 and 1998 and earning an at-large bid in 2001.
