Fairfield Women’s Basketball has earned the #1 seed; Men’s Basketball to battle for postseason position this weekend.

The 2022 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Basketball Championships are scheduled for March 8-12 at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Fairfield's men’s and women’s basketball teams will be in action throughout the week, eyeing the 2022 MAAC Championship and a trip to the NCAA postseason.

Led by Head Coach Joe Frager, the women’s basketball team has locked up the MAAC Regular Season Championship and the top seed in the tournament. The Stags began the quest for their first postseason title since 2000 on Wednesday, March 9 at 1 p.m., against an opponent to be determined in the quarterfinal round.

With a victory, the Stags would advance to the semifinals on Friday, March 11 at 11 a.m., and the 2022 MAAC Championship Game is set for Saturday, March 12 at 11 a.m.

The path for Fairfield Men’s Basketball remains uncertain, as Head Coach Jay Young and his team are one of six teams with between seven and nine league wins entering the final stretch of conference play. The Stags last hoisted the MAAC Championship Trophy in 1997, after which they advanced to a memorable near-upset of #4 North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament.

While the Stags’ schedule will be in flux until Saturday’s ledger is complete, all roads lead to the 2022 MAAC Championship Game on Saturday, March 12 at 4 p.m.
