In Concert from Germany: Klezmer-Yiddish Rocker Daniel Kahn, Feb. 8

This virtual concert is part of the Bennett Center for Judaic Studies' spring series of events.

On Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 5 p.m., Daniel Kahn, a Detroit-born, Hamburg-based singer/songwriter/musician and Yiddish translator, will be joined by klezmer clarinetist Christian Dawid for a virtual concert and live Q&A entitled "In Concert from Germany: Daniel Kahn & Christian Dawid: Borders & Ballads." This event is free and open to the public, and will be delivered as a Zoom webinar. Register to attend at fairfield.edu/bennettprograms

Expat Yiddish troubadour Kahn and Berlin's legendary klezmer multi-instrumentalist Dawid will present an evening of broken ballads, crooked klezmer, prison laments, revolutionary hymns, and apocalyptic blues. Kahn's celebrated new solo album, “Word Beggar,” is an intimate program of his translations and settings of revolutionary, modern, and heartbreaking poems and songs, including Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah."
