First-Place Stags Are 4-0 in Conference Play

After averaging 21 points per game this past week, Lou Lopez-Senechal ’22 was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Week for the second time this season. Along with her 21.0 scoring average of the weekend, Lopez-Senechal shot 61 percent from the floor and 53 percent from behind the 3-point arc in the Stags’ sweep at Rider.

"Lou had an exceptional game on Saturday and followed that up with another strong effort on Sunday," Head Coach Joe Frager said. "I am very pleased with Lou's performance this season."

Lopez-Senechal started the weekend series by tying her career high with 27 points at Rider, shooting 10-for-16 from the floor and 5-for-9 from long range. She followed that performance with 15 points in just 20 minutes as the Stags completed the road sweep of the Broncs.

For the season, Lopez-Senechal leads the MAAC in scoring (18.2 points per game), field goal percentage (.544) and three-point shooting percentage (.613). Her percentage from beyond the arc is the fifth best number in the country.

Lopez-Senechal, who was also named this season's MAAC Preseason Player of the Year, recorded her 800th career point this weekend in just her 58th career contest.

The Stags, who are off this weekend before hosting Marist on Jan. 15 and 16, stand alone in first place in the MAAC at 4-0. Fairfield is 5-1 overall and riding a five-game winning streak. All five of those victories have come on the road.
