Downtown Bookstore Begins 2021 with Virtual Author Lineup

January’s virtual author events will include one conversation of miracles overcome, and another to divulge a new strategy of visual thinking and communication to enhance your leadership in the new year.

A new year means a new virtual author lineup at Fairfield University’s Downtown Bookstore, and what better way to kick off 2021 than with two inspirational conversations.

Starting on Thursday, January 14 at 7 p.m., the Bookstore will be hosting Westport, Conn. author Mike Krysiuk in conversation with Julia Bobkoff. The duo will discuss their co-authored book, The Big One, a biography of Krysiuk’s own experience as a high school senior whose freshly earned spot on the varsity baseball team brought with it a new set of friends — and perhaps a shot at the Major League. That is, until one chance decision changes his life forever and instead sets him toward a life-threatening crisis that tests his determination and optimism.

Krysiuk’s motivational memoir sets the stage for the Bookstore to continue its virtual author series on a similar theme with Todd Cherches on Thursday, January 28. Cherches, author of VisuaLeadership, will lead a conversation starting at 6:30 p.m. that aims introduce the concept of thought and communication in leadership roles.

Defining “VisuaLeadership” as “the art and science of applying visual thinking and visual communication tools, tips, and techniques, in order to turn your vision into reality,” Cherches will discuss how to view personal and professional goals through the lens of visual thinking in order to turn those goals into realities.

With two inspirational authors on the horizon in January, these conversations will serve as the perfect platform from which to launch a successful 2021. All book talks will be broadcast live on the Downtown Bookstore’s Facebook page.
