Egan Out Front Dean's Series: “National Need for Nurses” with Mary Ann Christopher ’79, April 8

Meredith Wallace Kazer, PhD, APRN, FAAN, dean of the Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies, will host an online discussion with Fairfield Egan advisory board member Mary Ann Christopher ’79 and Fairfield University President Mark R. Nemec, PhD.

Tune in at 12 p.m. on Thursday, April 8 for a continuation of the virtual Egan Out Front Dean’s Series, as Fairfield's Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies advisory board member Mary Ann Christopher ’79 joins a discussion with Dean Kazer and special guest President Mark R. Nemec, PhD.

With healthcare systems challenged by an aging population, the pandemic, and wider access to public health care, the nursing profession continues to advocate, navigate, and care for the health-compromised. However, by year-end 2030, the number of unfilled nursing positions will exceed the availability of open positions in almost any other profession.

This deficit is estimated at more than 100,000 per year. Compounding this fact, seasoned nursing professionals are expected to retire in significant numbers. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a long-term need for new RNs for expansion and replacement of retirees, and to avoid a nursing shortage. Learn more about our country's "National Need for Nurses" during this important Egan Out Front Dean's Series conversation.
