Continuing to recognize professional achievement, outstanding leadership, and volunteer commitment to Fairfield, this year’s Fairfield Awards Dinner in New York City on March 28 will honor Anne Harris, P'18 with the Parent Leadership Award.

Since 1988, this annual event has been a true celebration of Fairfield and has raised more than $18 million for the Alumni Multicultural Scholarship Fund and other endowed scholarships.

Originally from Wilton, Conn., Anne Harris has spent her career focused on the field of higher education. She spent a number of years working for a variety of corporations such as Citigroup, Monsanto, and Dun and Bradstreet.

Harris's passion for Fairfield University grew as she watched her daughter, Elizabeth Harris-Jones '18, flourish at the the Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies.

"Since I met Anne Harris five years ago, she has been a tremendous asset to the Egan School," said Meredith Wallace Kazer PhD, APRN, FAAN, dean and professor of the Egan School. "Her enthusiasm and support for nursing and the impact we have on healthcare has launched us in new, cutting-edge directions. We are most grateful to have her on our Egan School advisory board and as a resource to further the work of our faculty and students."

Harris has directed a leadership gift to the Egan School because of her strong belief in its mission, its commitment to hire and support the best faculty, and the school's leading edge technology and progressive programs.

"The Egan School's faculty and the University development staff have been of tremendous support to me during a challenging year of elder care," Harris said. "There is something extremely compelling and almost magical about Fairfield University; the school not only educates, but transforms young adults into wonderful human beings. Perhaps it is the attitude of gratitude that makes all the difference."

Harris received her bachelor's of science degree in education at the University of Vermont and her master's of science degree in higher education at Cornell University.  She currently serves on several boards including the Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies Advisory Board, the Kiwanis Club of Waynesboro, Va., and the First Presbyterian Church.
