Katie and Nick met at Fairfield in 2017. Nick had arrived with close friends from high school, so he had a crew to visit the Tully with. One afternoon at lunch, someone who recognized one of Nick’s friends from class asked to join them—enter Katie—and the rest is history.
Over the next four years, they gradually grew closer, spending more time together and sharing countless late-night study sessions, parties, and meals on and off campus. By senior year, they had already made a lifetime of memories: their first Sham Jam, visiting each other while studying abroad in early 2020 (just before the pandemic), and celebrating the re-opening of The Seagrape on a beautiful April night in 2021 after COVID restrictions were lifted. It was clear to both of them that, after graduation, they would remain an integral part of each other’s lives.
Funnily enough, their love story truly began when only one of them was still attending Fairfield, and Nick was earning his master’s in accounting. From the day Nick received his diploma in May 2022 to the date of this message, they have been in a loving, caring relationship—making new friends, living in New York City, traveling together, and celebrating friends’ weddings—and, in December 2025, they celebrated their own wedding, joined by many fellow Stags among their family and friends. Inspired by the example set by Katie’s parents, who are also StagMates, Katie and Nick’s story is inseparable from Fairfield.
Fairfield University is an essential part of who they are and how their lives have unfolded. They are grateful every day for a place that brought them together and set the stage for a lifetime of happiness. Thank you to everyone and everything at Fairfield that makes it such a special and unforgettable place. Stags up!
