Fairfield University’s School of Education and Human Development’s Master of Social Work (MSW) program has been recognized among the top online programs in Connecticut by MastersinSocialWorkOnline.org.

In the newly released 2026 rankings, Fairfield’s MSW program earned the #2 spot statewide. The program was commended for its leadership, rigorous curriculum, high-quality instruction, and meaningful contributions to the field of social work.

“As a modern Jesuit Catholic University, we are committed to recruiting and training compassionate and competent social workers with cutting edge competencies who are positioned within a rich network of clinical partnerships and providers,” said School of Education and Human Development Dean Evelyn Bilias-Lolis, PhD. “I couldn’t be more proud of the work of our MSW faculty and students.”

Connecticut remains one of the most attractive states for MSW-educated professionals, ranking as the second highest-paying state for social workers in the nation. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of social workers nationwide is projected to grow 6 percent by 2034.

Fairfield’s low-residency MSW program provides students with personalized support from expert faculty— nationally and internationally recognized for their significant contributions in the field— as they prepare for clinical practice in a range of professional settings. Designed as a clinical specialist program, it equips graduates to become compassionate practitioners and leaders for social change. The program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
