Fairfield University’s Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies Ranked No. 7 Nationally in College Factual’s Annual ‘Best Colleges Ranking’

The Egan School was also ranked No. 1 in Connecticut for its nursing program and placed in the top 5% nationally for producing highly-paid graduates in health professions.

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (October 11, 2019) — Fairfield University and the Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies’ nursing program jumped four spots to be ranked No. 7 out of 519 schools in the United States, placing the Egan School in the top 5 percent of programs in the country, in college research website College Factual’s annual ‘Best Colleges Ranking’ for 2020. Additionally, the Egan school was ranked No. 1 in Connecticut for its nursing program.

Additionally, the school was recognized nationally for producing the top 5 percent highest paid graduates in the health professions, placing No. 18 out of 687 schools included in the ranking.

Overall, Fairfield University received a national distinction of its own, ranking No. 147 out of 1,727 total colleges and universities included in this year’s ranking, placing in the top 10 percent nationwide. Additionally, Fairfield placed in the top 25 percent of schools in New England.  

College Factual’s annual ranking aims to measure the quality of education a student will receive at a specific college or university in comparison to other schools in the United States, weighing 11 different factors to score four-year undergraduate programs. The categories considered in the ranking include: average test scores, average faculty compensation, expenditures per student, student to faculty ratio, percent of full-time teachers, freshmen retention rate, six-year graduation rate, expected vs. actual graduation rate, student loan default rate, starting salary boost, and mid-career salary boost.
