Fairfield University Bookstore hosts talk on media literacy in the classroom

Image: Belinha de Abreu Schoolteachers and parents can learn about new ways to engage children in technology at "Media Literacy," a free lecture on Tuesday, September 25 at 7 p.m. at the Fairfield University Bookstore, 1499 Post Road, Fairfield. Author Belinha de Abreu, Ph.D., adjunct professor of educational technology at Fairfield University, will lead the discussion, which is open to the public.

Dr. Abreu, author of "Media Literacy, Social Networking and the Web 2.0 Environment for the K-12 Educator" (Peter Lang Publishing, 2011), will focus on the impact of learning from the media and technology consumed by K-12 students. She will offer tips on providing viable, real-life opportunities for engaging in technological environments and encouraging students to be creative users of technology and media.
