Fairfield Athletics and INFLCR Launch the Fairfield Stags Exchange

Fairfield Athletics has partnered with INFLCR

The service will help student-athletes pursue Name, Image & Likeness (NIL) business opportunities.

Fairfield University Athletics, in partnership with INFLCR (pronounced "influencer"), is excited to announce the launch of the Fairfield Stags Exchange, which will allow student-athletes to pursue Name, Image, & Likeness (NIL) business opportunities.

Companies can register for the Fairfield Stags Exchange via FairfieldStags.com/Exchange. Examples of possible business deals include public appearances, autograph signings, social media promotion and endorsement, private lessons, and athletic camps.

“We are excited to announce the Fairfield Stags Exchange as the first of a multi-layered approach to support our student-athletes’ NIL opportunities and efforts,” said Vice President for Athletics Paul Schlickmann. “It is our hope and belief that local businesses will see first-hand the creative intelligence, relentless work ethic, and entrepreneurial spirit that are consistent traits of our student-athletes and will prove mutually beneficial for their shared goals and objectives. This venture aligns with our University pursuit of modern excellence and our departmental mission to provide a holistic educational experience for our student-athletes.”

In June of 2021 the NCAA approved an NIL policy that allows NCAA student-athletes to be compensated for their name, image and likeness. The Fairfield Stags Exchange will be the primary site dedicated to NIL education, opportunities, and reporting. Members of the business community will now be able to partner directly with student-athletes on brand-focused activities, provided they are within legal protocols, follow the Fairfield University NIL policy, and are approved in advance by the Fairfield Athletics Compliance office.

“Fairfield is unlocking a huge opportunity for their student-athletes by investing and building the Local Exchange in partnership with INFLCR,” said Jim Cavale, INFLCR Founder. “The Fairfield Stags Exchange empowers their student-athletes to monetize their personal brands with NIL partnerships on a fee-free platform.”

After a business or individual registers on the Fairfield Stags Exchange, they will have access to a searchable database of Stags student-athletes, and can filter that database through a variety of criteria. They will have the ability to message the student-athlete directly in the application or request contact information to begin discussions about any potential NIL transaction. INFLCR and Fairfield University Athletics will not be involved in any of the negotiations.

Upon finalization of an NIL deal within the Exchange, student-athletes will then be able to complete a compliance disclosure within the INFLCR app. The app will also include a payment processing tool for the business to securely and directly pay the student-athlete, with no transaction fees. All disclosure and payment data automatically reports to the institution's existing INFLCR compliance portal, and any payments processed using this tool will be reported on a consolidated 1099 that lives in the student-athletes’ INFLCR app for more efficient tax reporting.
