Field hockey, volleyball, and men’s soccer make their 2022 debuts this weekend.

A goal from Sam Kersey ’26 in her collegiate debut was the difference-maker this past Sunday as Fairfield women’s soccer kicked off the 2022-23 Stags Athletics calendar with a 2-1 win at home over UMass. Graduate student Maddie Mills — another first-year Stag — also scored a goal in the comeback victory.

Kersey was named MAAC Co-Rookie of the Week for her game-winner, as the Stags continue their fall slate this weekend with road matches at Holy Cross and Princeton.

Three more teams of Stags will begin their respective campaigns this weekend, all on the road. Field hockey will challenge Monmouth and Villanova, volleyball will play three matches at the Spartan Invitational hosted by Michigan State, and men’s soccer will spend opening weekend in Maryland with visits to UMBC and Navy.

Action returns to campus on Thursday, Sept. 1 when women’s soccer welcomes Bryant to Lessing Field at 7 p.m. The following day, field hockey will host Holy Cross at 4 p.m. and men’s soccer will challenge Albany at 7 p.m. Volleyball will play its first home contest on Wednesday, Sept. 7 against St. John’s.

Tickets for all Fairfield men's and women's soccer home matches are on sale now at the new FairfieldStags.com/TIX.

Purchasing tickets in advance is the preferred method of entry and the fastest way through the gate and into the stands at Lessing Field. Fans who plan to purchase tickets at the gate are reminded that Lessing Field is a cashless venue. Only credit or debit card payments will be accepted.

Current Fairfield University students, faculty, and staff are entitled to one complimentary ticket.

Admission is free for all fans for Fairfield volleyball and field hockey games.
