Internationally bestselling author and journalist Armando Lucas Correa

The internationally renowned author of The German Girl will discuss and sign copies of his latest novel, The Daughter’s Tale.

I believe that our audience will be drawn in to the author's vivid storytelling and use of scene and detail to explore the personal impacts of larger historical events.

— Sonya Huber, director of the MFA in creative writing program

Internationally bestselling Cuban author and journalist Armando Lucas Correa will sit down with Sonya Huber, Fairfield University MFA in Creative Writing program director, for an intimate conversation and book signing for his latest novel, The Daughter’s Tale, on Friday, May 17, at 7p.m. on the second floor of the Fairfield University Downtown Bookstore. Walk-ins are welcome, but attendees are encouraged to R.S.V.P. in advance by emailing FairfieldUBookstoreEvents@gmail.com. The event is free and open to the public.

Based entirely on true events, The Daughter’s Tale chronicles one of the most harrowing atrocities perpetrated by the Nazis during World War II - the 1944 massacre of the inhabitants of Oradour-Sur-Glane, a small, idyllic village in the south of France. Heartbreaking and immersive, the novel delivers an unforgettable family saga of love, survival, redemption, and hope against all odds that has been praised by critics as a gripping and richly detailed account of lives torn apart by war.

"I believe that our audience will be drawn in to the author's vivid storytelling and use of scene and detail to explore the personal impacts of larger historical events,” Huber said. “I think writing process and research process are two of the topics that audiences love to hear about, so I will definitely talk to Correa about that."

Copies of The Daughter’s Tale will be available for purchase at the bookstore.

Praised by critics for his hauntingly beautiful prose and talent for creating memorable characters in a rich historical atmosphere, Armando Lucas Correa is an award-winning journalist, editor, author, and the recipient of numerous awards from the National Association of Hispanic Publications and the Society of Professional Journalism. He first burst onto the literary scene in 2016 with his critically-acclaimed debut novel, The German Girl, which quickly became an international bestseller and has been translated into 14 languages and published in more than 20 countries. Most recently, he was honored as the recipient of AT&T’s Humanity of Connection Award.
